What is the big idea?
Background
India is a fast growing economy. It is also two countries where the poor are in a different world than the rapidly growing middle class. This is causing a growing social resentment. It is the duty and in the interests of the middle class to address these issues and correct the imbalance and aim for social harmony.
We are too often caught in our daily struggles, cynicism and ready to give opinions, but not really get involved. It is intellectual arm armchair moralising. The conclusion more often than not is that the situation is difficult to change and let’s get on with our lives.
Though there are numerous organisations and lots of worthwhile causes which are being addressed, these are but a fraction of what needs to be and are being carried out by a minuscule proportion. What can be done by a bigger involvement by a socially charged middle class is potentially mind boggling.
There is a growing mood for a better life in terms not only of money but also social improvement in the country. Let us not give up the dimming ideals which all us try to bury and try to recognise moral leaders needed for this country.
How can we get involved and start the ball rolling?
We can help the brave souls who are doing something positive and reward their courage of convictions. Some where down the line this recognition may start a trickle of positive energy. This may cascade into a stronger flow and thus lead to hands on participation by a growing number of people.
Through the process of involvement the aim is to generate debate, leading to change and make the slogan Satyameva Jayate meaningful as was the intention.
Obviously things are uncertain, the idea woolly, but we wont know until we start the journey. I have begun mine and I invite you to begin yours.
